Need to Know

Umbria is Italy’s best-kept secret, the “green heart” where rolling hills meet medieval charm, and truffles, chocolate, olive oil, and wine are basically a food group. Life moves slower here (intentionally), meals linger, and every turn is a postcard moment. The only rule? Don’t rush it (with a drink in hand, of course).

  • In The Air & on the Ground

September is one of the very best times to visit Umbria. You can expect warm, sun-filled days with highs in the mid-70s to low-80s°F and cooler evenings dipping into the 50s–60s.

All wedding events will take place primarily on natural elements. Plan your shoe choice accordingly!

  • In Your Bag

    Don’t forget your passport!

Italy runs on the euro, and most places happily accept cards - but having a little cash on hand is always a plus.

If you forget something, nearby shops and pharmacies will have most essentials you may need.

  • Getting Around

Most hotels and agriturismos in Umbria are tucked into the hills and countryside. Renting a car is the easiest and most practical way to get around.

If you’re comfortable driving, we highly recommend a rental car.

Umbria is best enjoyed on your own schedule.

  • In Your Glass

Natalie recommends: a crisp glass of white

    Gerard recommends: tequila

  • In Your Spare Time

Some spare time (Tuesday morning, perhaps?), we recommend:

Orvieto, local wineries, thermal baths and charming hill towns – gems like Civita di Bagnoregio or Bolsena.
